Westminster Communities Launches Construction Of Wesley Grove At Asbury Park

Westminster Communities has begun construction of Wesley Grove at Asbury Park, a new luxury community that is part of Oceanfront Asbury, an ongoing waterfront revitalization, announced Sam Gershwin, president. During a much-anticipated ceremony on October 14, Asbury Park officials joined Gershwin and Vice Chairman and Managing Partner Jeffrey Freireich in placing a shovel in the ground near Wesley Lake along the City’s South Shore, where Wesley Grove at Asbury Park will soon take shape. Comprised of 146 luxury townhomes, condominiums and duplexes, the new residential development will cover two city blocks between Cookman and Lake Avenues.

“Westminster Communities is thrilled and honored to be part of this pivotal moment in Asbury Park’s renaissance,” noted Freireich. “The start of residential construction – on the heels of a successful summer with increased beach revenues, a renovated boardwalk, and an influx of new businesses and attractions – is tangible proof of the City’s turnaround. With shovels and backhoes, we are re-writing history.”

Historic Charm Accented By Modern Amenities

Phase 1 of Wesley Grove at Asbury Park will feature two art deco-inspired structures with 338 parking spaces hidden from view and approximately 10,000 square feet of retail amenities. Finished with brick, stucco and glass exterior construction, the handsome buildings will step down from four stories along Cookman Avenue to two-story townhomes along Lake Avenue. Condominiums and duplexes located on the third and fourth floors of the taller structure will feature large terraces and roof gardens for outdoor entertaining. The townhomes will include spacious lofts that open to roof decks offering breathtaking water views.

Designed by architect Minno & Wasko of Lambertville, Wesley Grove at Asbury Park will project the charm of a historic seaside town, while offering residents luxurious modern amenities. Each home will feature an oversized master bedroom and bath, the latest kitchen appliances, and individual washer and dryer hookups. Beautiful finishing details will include wall-to-wall carpeting in the main living areas, and ceramic-tile flooring in the entrance foyer, kitchen and bath areas. A gas-fired HVAC system will provide efficient and economical comfort.

The 46 luxury townhomes included within Phase 1 will offer 1,600 square feet of living and entertaining space on two levels.   Residences will feature private garages, and several will also offer private yards, decks and balconies. Over-sized windows will be placed strategically throughout the development to maximize abundant natural light and views of the water.

A Prime Site Where ‘The City Meets The Sea’

“Wesley Grove at Asbury Park occupies a prime waterfront location with immediate access to all the exciting day and night life of the historic shore town,” noted Gershwin, who is overseeing the construction project. “This new luxury community will bring to life the city’s slogan – ‘Where the City Meets the Sea’ – as residents enjoy spectacular views of the lake and ocean, from a setting that places them within steps of the revitalized downtown retail district.”

The location is also minutes from the train station and has proximity to the Garden State Parkway at Exit 102, making it ideal for commuting throughout the New Jersey/New York metro area.

More than 200 individuals have already expressed significant interest in the new development, according to Gershwin. “Young professionals, empty nesters, and even young families are attracted to Asbury Park’s diverse cultural mix, its artistic element, and of course, its sandy beachfront,” he said. “The new Asbury Park offers an unparalleled combination – a blending of the nostalgic seaside town of yesteryear with trendy restaurants, contemporary art galleries, jazz clubs and upscale shopping.”

In response to the growing interest for Wesley Grove at Asbury Park, the developer, Westminster Communities, has formed a priority wait list for prospective buyers. Those desiring more information about the development or wishing to be placed on the wait list, may call (866) 440-0267.

The overall plan involves several developers and calls for more than 3,000 residential units, a 450,000-square-foot retail/entertainment component on 56 acres, and improved municipal services, including the recently renovated boardwalk. With a half-century of experience in development and construction, Westminster Communities is currently building single-family homes, multifamily residential buildings, active adult communities and vacation properties throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
