Diverse Group Of Buyers Grabbing Up Homes At New Wesley Grove At Asbury Park Luxury Waterfront Community
First Residents Expected to Move in By Late Fall 2006
First Residential Building More Than 50% Sold; Occupancy Expected by Late Fall 2006
ASBURY PARK, N.J., Aug. 15, 2006 – Who is buying homes at the new Wesley Grove at Asbury Park luxury waterfront community? “We have every age group, coming from everywhere,” responds Laurie Koziol of Koziol Real Estate, who is handling sales for the project. “The buyers are as diverse as the homes we offer. We have young families, empty-nesters and singles. They come from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. They are buying as vacation homes and as primary residences. In other words, the rebirth of Asbury Park has captured the imaginations of just about every kind of homebuyer.”
Wesley Grove at Asbury Park, being developed by Westminster Communities, is part of the 56-acre Oceanfront Asbury redevelopment now taking place in the heart of this historic seaside resort. When completed, Wesley Grove at Asbury Park will consist of 750 townhouses, duplexes and condominium flats with interior garages, and 35,000 square feet of retail space – all designed as an inviting, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood.
Nestled amid tree-lined streets and beautiful Victorian homes, and almost afloat on an expanse of Wesley Lake overlooking Ocean Grove and the Atlantic Ocean, Wesley Grove occupies one of the most unique locations within the newly emerging Asbury Park waterfront community. It is just steps from the thriving turn-of-the-century downtown area with its eclectic mix of boutiques, restaurants and art galleries. It is within sight of the beach and boardwalk and offers views of many of the town’s landmark buildings. It is also just minutes from the train station and within easy reach of major highways.
“Every buyer has a different reason for being here,” notes Koziol. “The proximity to the train station and the easy commute both to New York City and area businesses attract those who are considering commuting part- or full-time. The newly rebuilt boardwalk and the pristine beaches are a strong attraction for those seeking a vacation home. And the thriving arts community and abundance of fine restaurants has been a strong draw.”
For some older buyers, Asbury Park has a special nostalgic pull. “Many of our buyers have fond memories of childhood vacations spent in Asbury Park,” said Sam Gershwin, president of Westminster Communities. “They remember the Swan Boats on Wesley Lake, the amusements, the rides and the boardwalk.”
Younger people, notes Koziol, love the excitement of being part of the rebirth of this famed beachfront community. “They like the feeling of having gotten in on the ground level. There are very few opportunities like that. Most towns are already more developed and the prices are much higher.”
The fact that Asbury Park’s renaissance has been very much in the news lately has greatly increased the traffic at the Wesley Grove Sales Center. “We get locals walking in out of curiosity, and we have a lot of people from all over who have heard the name Asbury Park and want to see what it’s all about,” said Koziol.
Wesley Grove’s first building, The St. James, which will include 30 townhouses and 61 duplexes and condo flats, is already under construction with the majority of homes already sold. Westminster Communities has received planning approval for 55 additional units in the project’s Phase I and is currently working on the approvals for Phase II of Wesley Grove, which will feature 300 residential units and a spectacular state-of-the-art health club.
The townhomes offer approximately 2,200 to 2,400 square feet of living and entertaining space, which includes spacious loft and rooftop terrace areas. The condominium flats and duplexes average more than 1,800 square feet, some with walkout balconies and roof terraces. Over-sized windows have been placed strategically throughout to maximize abundant natural light and views of the water. The townhomes range in price from the $700,000s to the mid-$800,000s. Condo flats and duplexes range from the high $400,000s to the mid-$800,000s.
The Sales Center for Wesley Grove at Asbury Park, open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., is located at 600 Cookman Avenue on the corner of Press Plaza in the heart of the downtown district, just a block from the site.
