'MARDI GRAS' TROLLEY FOR ASBURY PARK'S FIRST SATURDAY NIGHT EVENT

As part of Asbury Park's upcoming Mardi Gras celebration on
Saturday night, February 5, shoppers will be treated to a fun-filled
trolley ride that will transport them along the downtown area and
provide them with a historic tour. The trolley is being sponsored
by Asbury Partners, LLC, master developer for the 56-acre Oceanfront
Asbury redevelopment and Oceanfront Asbury sub-developers: Paramount
Homes, Westminster Communities and Metro Homes.
"The merchants have created a wonderful
event, with shopping, entertainment and festivities that highlight the exciting
progress of the City's downtown center," noted Larry Fishman, chief
operating officer of Asbury Partners. "The trolley will run for three
hours from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with stops for people to enjoy more than 35
restaurants and shops that are staying open until 10 p.m. for this event.
A percussion-based band M'Zume will perform on the trolley to open the event,
and a tour guide will explain the historical highlights of this magnificent
city by the sea."
The
Mardi Gras celebration will be marked with free wine and hors d'oeuvres,
super sales, live music, art shows, giveaways, open houses and loft tours,
and much more.
This is the second celebration
of "First Saturday
Night" in Asbury Park, building on the success of the December event,
which attracted more than 1,500 people.
"We are all very excited about
the addition of the trolley in February," said Fishman. "There
are so many wonderful events and entertainment venues in Asbury
Park now, from the summer happenings on the boardwalk, to the year-around
concerts and sports events at Convention Hall, Paramount Theatre,
and the many new nightclubs, restaurants and shops in the City.
Asbury Park is once again becoming the focal point of exciting
leisure activities and happenings for the entire region, and events
like First Saturday Night make it a true year-round destination."
