BRIGHTER DAYS ON TAP FOR ASBURY PARK CONVENTION HALL
Asbury Partners ready to make needed
repairs and keep historic look with new window openings.
Asbury
Park, N.J. – Two new aluminum windows – models
for ongoing replacements – designed to preserve the
look and feel of historic Convention Hall have been approved by
the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office (NJHPO). Asbury
Partners is making the repairs to replace the old and decaying
copper clad windows as a part of its efforts to refurbish Convention
Hall, viewed as the centerpiece of the Boardwalk’s renaissance,
and revitalize Asbury’s oceanfront area.
The two window
openings – one fixed, with multiple panes,
and another triple-hung window have an aged copper patina finish
that matches the look of the historic building. In order
to continue restoration of the building and oceanfront redevelopment,
the mock-up windows needed NJHPO approval. With Wednesday’s
authorization, Asbury Partners can now take the next steps to replacing
windows on three sides of the second floor in the building.
“We’re committed to revitalizing every aspect of Asbury’s
oceanfront, and Convention Hall is the key to being able to do
it properly,” said Asbury Partners chief operating officer,
Larry Fishman. “When people get nostalgic of Asbury
Park, one image that comes to a lot of their minds is Convention
Hall. We want to restore the building so that it can again
become a prime destination for residents and visitors.”
Asbury Partners has
planned a Winter Carnival with rides, games and music that will
take place in Convention Hall this coming February. Asbury
Partners expects that all repairs to window openings and installation
of new windows are finished by the summer beach season.
