ASBURY PARK’S FAMED PARAMOUNT THEATRE OFFERS SPECIAL MOVIE SERIES BEGINNING ON OCT. 3
Opening Night Free Screening of “A Night at the Opera” The Marx Brothers Classic
ASBURY PARK, NJ,Sept. 28, 2006 – On Tues.,
Oct. 3, a special free screening of “A Night at the Opera,” the
legendary Marx Brothers comedy, will kick off the Return Of
Filmsto Asbury Park’s legendary Paramount Theatre on
the boardwalk. The announcement was made today by Larry Fishman,
chief operating officer of Asbury Partners, LLC, master developer
of the 56-acre Oceanfront Asbury waterfront redevelopment and film
industry veteran, Diane Raver.
The Marx Brothers shared top billing
with Ginger Rogers at the opening of the Paramount Theatre on July
11, 1930. “What
better way to kick off movies at the Paramount thanwith one of
the industry’s truly iconic acts and one with ties to Asbury
Park and the theatre,” said Raver. “The Paramount is
a great venue for film events and we’re thrilled to be able
to offer this type of entertainment to our friends and neighbors.”
The
special serieswill include mixed-genre films, in addition to very
special guest appearances by cult director John Waters and singing
sensation Bonnie Pointer, among others.
“Entertainment and Asbury Park have always been synonymous,
from the great days of the Paramount as the Jersey Shore’s
entertainment Mecca to the Stone Pony as an incubator of great
rock and roll,” said Fishman. “We intend to recapture
those past glories. This series is just the beginning of what we
are planning to do to revitalize entertainment and the arts in
our community.”
Movies will be grouped into one of three categories:
* Classic Tuesday (evening performances
at 7:30 p.m.)
* Must See Matinee (Sundays at
2 p.m.)
* Special Events on various days
and times
Tickets for admission are $5, with children under 10 admitted
free of charge. Tickets will be available at the box office prior
to each show. Show times and ticket prices for special cinema events
will be announced at www.asburyparkconventionhall.com or on a movie
phone at 732-775-3533 on a per show basis.
