DEVELOPERS WORK TO REPAIR FAULTY WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY
Developers Work to Repair Faulty Wastewater Treatment Facility
Asbury Park, N.J. – With significant progress on Asbury Park’s
oceanfront redevelopment visible along the shore, work recently
began on a crucial infrastructure improvement.
Thanks to the city and Asbury Partners, the Asbury Park Water Quality Control Facility is receiving a multi-million dollar upgrade to bring it to current standards and to accommodate the influx of new residents to the booming oceanfront destination. One of the contributors to the project is Paramount Homes, who is providing $1 million.
“This is just one of the many examples of the significant quality-of-life improvements being made along the oceanfront this summer,” said Asbury Partners chief operating officer, Larry Fishman. “We
are working hard to make sure that the old system is fixed as soon as possible
to create a more enjoyable atmosphere for everyone in the City.”
When the work is complete, the facility will be equipped with a two-stage odor
control system consisting of two wet scrubbers to handle several high odor areas
and four dry scrubbers to handle the remaining plant ventilation and discharge
from the wet scrubber. In addition to the new odor control units, the upgrade
at the treatment facility will include upgraded fans and ductwork and other structural
upgrades.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) approved the construction
contract in mid-July. The entire project is expected to be complete in July 2008.
