ASBURY PARTNERS INVITE AREA CHILDREN BACK TO THE BEACH FOR DAY OF FUN

Asbury Park, N.J. – Children from the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County Summer Day Camp spent an afternoon of fun with arts and crafts and a sand sculpting competition at a Back to the Beach event hosted by Asbury Partners.

The event served as a gesture from master developer of the Oceanfront Redevelopment Project to encourage Asbury Park residents to enjoy one of the city’s most valuable resources, especially now that the beachfront is seeing such a great rebirth.

“We have been and will continue to be committed to revitalize Asbury Park as one city,” said Larry Fishman, chief operating officer of Asbury Partners. “As the oceanfront welcomes new faces and businesses, we want residents to be reminded that this really is a beautiful place and wonderful resource to be enjoyed by all, especially the city’s children.”

The Back to the Beach event consisted of two arts projects, facilitated by resident artist, Charles Trott. For the first portion of the event, children were divided into groups and given chalk to color in a mural on the sidewalk adjacent to Ocean Avenue, along Asbury Partners’ office building. The mural reflects the positive, artistic expression that exists in Asbury Park.

The second project prepared for the children was a sand sculpting contest. The campers worked in teams to design and complete a sand sculpture in a limited amount of time. The sculptures were judged and prizes were awarded to the team with the most creative design. Light refreshments were also provided for the children.

“Our youth are full of creative and artistic expression,” said Robert Taylor, chief professional officer of the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County. “When businesses like Asbury Partners take time out to think of ways to involve the youth, it affirms that they are conscious of their responsibility to the entire community. We hope to work with them in the future on some of our other projects.”
