CITY, ASBURY PARTNERS SEND NEARLY 100 TOP STUDENTS TO NETS GAMES

‘Learn More to Earn More’ program
sends exemplary students on trip to Continental Airlines Arena
Asbury Park, N.J. – Students from the Asbury
Park Middle School and Asbury Park High School recently found out that hard work
and studying do pay off.
Through the City’s “Learn More to Earn More” program, close
to 100 eligible students were provided with an all-expense-paid trip to the Continental
Airlines Arena on a coach bus and free Nets tickets, thanks to a collaborative
effort between oceanfront redeveloper, Asbury Partners, and the New Jersey Nets
and their players.
Last month as part of the same program, forty of the top student athletes in
Asbury Park’s basketball league were selected to attend the games.
“The City’s program is a great way of teaching kids a lesson and
the importance of being a well-rounded individual that can excel in and out of
the classroom,” said Asbury Partners chief operating officer, Larry Fishman. “We’re
always excited to be a part of programs and events that bring smiles to children’s
faces, but this one is particularly special”
The hope is for other companies and local business to follow the lead of Asbury
Partners and join as sponsors of the Mayor’s program. As the program
evolves, organizers hope that by rewarding students who are excelling in school
through sponsorships, these companies will become community partners helping
to promote enjoyable and motivational trips.
“We want students to see the opportunities that can be available to them
if they put in the hard work in the classroom,” said Asbury Park Mayor,
Kevin Sanders. “We’re hoping to be able to provide opportunities
for these children that are applying themselves as well-rounded students.”
Recently founded by and the brainchild of Mayor Sanders, the Learn More to Earn
More program will reward well-rounded students that excel in the classroom and
in their extracurricular activities.
This is the latest effort among others by Asbury Partners to aid and inspire
the City’s youth. The City’s oceanfront redeveloper,
recently pledged $25,000 to rebuild Asbury Park Little League’s baseball
field.
