ASBURY PARTNERS HELPS FUND ‘FIELD OF DREAMS’ WITH $25K DONATION
Deteriorated Asbury Park Little League facility gets money for upgrade from city, waterfront developer and other donors.
Asbury Park, N.J. – With springtime just around the corner, Asbury Parks’ youth received a ray of hope in the form of a large donation from Asbury Partners that will make the rehabilitation of the dilapidated baseball field possible.
Asbury Partners contributed an extra $25,000 donation, which will be combined with the city’s $30,000 contribution that came from the oceanfront redeveloper’s payments for community improvements. Along with gifts from other organizations, businesses and individuals, the Asbury Park Little League was able to raise a total of $107,000 in funds to rebuild the field.
“From dilapidated baseball fields to a depressed oceanfront, we’re excited to find ways to refurbish Asbury Park and restore hope for residents for a vibrant future,” said Larry Fishman, COO of Asbury Partners. “To be able to revive Asbury Park and its waterfront, we must first be able to help lift the spirits of this great community.”
For the new field, the league plans to construct a new bullpen and batting-cage area, bleachers, a scoreboard and a flagpole. The field itself will be newly sodded and will allow for drainage. In the past, the existing field has been ruined by flooding.
“The field has been in ruins and sorely in need of repairs,” said Asbury Park Little League president, Danny McKee. “The children, their parents and I are all grateful for Asbury Partners’ generosity and their help to make the renovation possible.”
In addition to their financial contribution, Asbury Partners has also promised ongoing logistical support to make sure the field is completed for the March 31 opening day. Approximately 150 Asbury Park children are expected to sign up for the spring baseball season.
